I am a Chartered Accountant and Director of BDO Tauranga Ltd. (following a recent merger between them and my previous firm, RHB Chartered Accountants Ltd). Late 2008 I retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel of the New Zealand Defence Force Territorials (1974 – 2008) during which time I served for a year as a United Nations military observer in South Lebanon and the Golan Heights. My community involvement includes Treasurer of Tauranga Electorate, New Zealand National party since 2005, member of the Bay of Plenty Officer’s Club and 6th Battalion (Hauraki) Regimental Assocation and a Trustee of the Urban Dance Youth Trust. I am also a keen sports follower, in particular rugby.

I am a member of the NZ Parole Board and have a background in Dairy Farming, Kiwifruit, Real Estate and also as a Director of private companies and an involvement in property development. I am a Justice of the Peace, Associate Member of the Real Estate Institute of NZ and a member of the Tauranga-Te Papa Rotary.

Simon joined the Board of Trustees in September 2015. He is a senior executive at Trustpower and has held a number of senior roles in the energy, technology and legal sectors in NZ and overseas.
Simon has degrees in law and politics from the University of Otago and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors and also sits on the Board of Priority One (WBOP Economic Development Agency) and the Tauranga Art Gallery Trust.
Simon and his wife Kate, live in Matua, Tauranga, with their two daughters.

Some of my recent opportunities to serve in local roles have included:
I am also an elected member of Tauranga City Council representing the Mt Maunganui-Papamoa ward and serve as chair of council’s community development committee. I also serve as a board member of the Bay of Plenty Conservation Board and as a lay member of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.
As well as previous work in property, I worked in Dubai as an English teacher and course compiler for clients such as Citibank, Standard Chartered bank and the Dubai Ports and Customs Authority. I live in my hometown of Papamoa with my wife Ancy and our two young children.
My name is Rita Nabney. I am a Barrister specialising in employment and criminal law.
I have a 1st Class honours Law Degreee. I also have an MBA(dist) and a Nursing Degree having woked in Mental Health both on the Crisis team and later as the Manager for Community Mental Health.
Prior to becoming a Barrister, I spent 10 years working as a Human Resource Manager with both Cater Holt Harvey and Fonterra.
I am married to Bill Nabney and work with him and my son David Weaver at Tauranga Chambers in Tauranga. I have two other adult children.
I enjoy family, fishing, diving,hunting, good food, music and wine.
I consider it a privilege to serve our community as a Trustee to the Bay Trust Board.
