5 Quick Facts About Our Board of Trustees

  1. The Board is the governing body of the BayTrust and currently has 12 members. They are appointed by the Minister of Finance for four-year terms.
  2. The Board has among its members a balanced representation from throughout the Bay of Plenty and community, investment, legal and financial expertise to enable the Trust to apply broad-based skills and wisdom to it’s governance standards.
  3. The Board is responsible for the policy direction of the BayTrust. This includes strategic planning, budgets and Investments, Grants and other Policies. It delegates the day-to-day management of the Trust to the Chief Executive.
  4. The Board operates under a Charter which includes a Code of Conduct in which all Trustees commit to acting ethically and professionally and to avoid conflicts of interest with respect to their fiduciary responsibilities.
  5. The Board has four standing committees: Audit, Governance, Investments and Dillon Scholarship.

I am the owner of PR Plus, a Taupō based public relations and communications agency.  PR Plus works primarily in the economic development sector, while also supporting local events and small businesses to achieve their communications objectives, as well as working with many not-for-profit groups.  This work includes managing the charity co-ordination for the Zero Risk King of the Ring event in Taupō that raised over $300,000 for local community groups and organisations.

My career in Taupō has included working as Arts Coordinator for the Taupo District Council, the Lake Taupo Arts Festival Trust General Manager,  General Manager of Towncentre Taupō, and the Co-ordinator for the Taupō Council of Social Services.  My community involvements have included Trustee of Lake Taupo Housing Trust, Trustee of Taupo Safer Community Trust, Taupo Plunket Committee Member, Founder of ‘Cruising for a Cause’ charity event;  Foundation Trustee of Placemaking New Zealand; and Foundation Member of the Rotary Club of Taupo Expresso.  I am currently a Trustee of the Taupo Sculpture Trust and Co-ordinator of 100% Lake Taupo Charitable Trust.  Whilst my 20 year career has predominantly focused on marketing and communications activities, I have always had a passion for community and philanthropy.

My daughter and step-son both attend Taupō Primary School and participate in plenty of activities in the Taupō area, and my husband Gareth and I welcomed our son in early 2014.    In our spare time we love enjoying the natural beauty and many recreational activities that abound in the Taupo district.  I am hugely passionate about Taupo – our people, our past, and our future – and am honoured to serve this community as a Trustee of BayTrust.

I am the Corporate Solicitor at Taupo District Council. I was born and raised in Tauranga and now live in Taupo following a period of living and working in the UK during the late 1990’s – early 2000’s. My wife Tash and I have two daughters who attend Hilltop School in Taupo and who keep us busy and entertained! 

It is a privilege to be appointed a Trustee of the BayTrust and I enjoy getting to know, and being inspired by those people/groups in the Taupo community and the wider BOP region who are helping change peoples’ lives.
