BayTrust joins our thoughts with the many individuals and families impacted by the recent severe weather event across Tauranga Moana and the Western Bay of Plenty.
Following significant flooding and landslides in the region, the Western Bay Emergency Response Fund has now been activated to support affected communities. The fund is a joint initiative between Acorn Foundation, BayTrust, TECT, Tauranga City Council, and Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
The fund has been established to provide urgent financial support to local organisations, marae, and charities working directly with those impacted by this emergency.
At this stage, philanthropic organisations such as BayTrust are not required to contribute directly. However, the fund plays a vital role in coordinating community generosity by appointing Acorn Foundation as the central recipient and distributor of donations, ensuring support reaches those who need it most.
As recovery efforts continue and the needs of affected communities become clearer, BayTrust will remain closely involved alongside our partners. Any future contributions will follow our usual approval processes.
The fund is now open to receive public donations. All donations remain in the region and are distributed where they are needed most.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected during this challenging time, and we acknowledge the strength and resilience of our communities.
