BayTrust is seeking a Grants, Communications and Administration Advisor to join our team and support impactful work across the Bay of Plenty. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, people-focused, and keen to grow in the community and philanthropic sector.

BayTrust is a community trust that funds community wellbeing, housing, environmental and Māori development initiatives across the Bay of Plenty.

About the role | Mō te tūranga

This is a key support role working across granting, communications, and administration. You will help deliver BayTrust’s granting programmes, engage with community organisations, and contribute to how we communicate our impact.

This role is based in Tauranga or Rotorua, and applicants must be New Zealand-based and able to work from one of these locations.

No two days look the same. You’ll be reviewing applications one day, meeting with community groups the next, and helping share stories of impact across our website and social channels.

What you’ll be doing | Ngā mahi

  • Supporting the delivery of BayTrust’s grants programmes
  • Reviewing funding applications, assessing and undertaking due diligence, and managing the grants database
  • Meeting with organisations across the Bay of Plenty, both in person and virtually
  • Supporting accountability reporting and funding processes
  • Helping represent BayTrust across combined funding initiatives
  • Managing and contributing to social media, website content, and communications
  • Supporting trustee and community engagement activities
  • Providing general administrative support across the team
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings

What we’re looking for | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

  • 1–2 years’ experience in an office, coordination, or administrative role
  • Strong financial capability, including intermediate spreadsheet skills
  • A relevant qualification in communications, humanities, business, or similar
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with social media, website content, or digital tools
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence working across multiple tasks and priorities
  • A genuine interest in community, social impact, and the for-purpose sector, alongside curiosity about wider social issues
  • An understanding of te ao Māori, including Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a willingness to build capability in this area
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence is required
  • Where BayTrust vehicles are in use or not available, work-related travel will be fully reimbursed at the IRD rate
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand

It’s advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with databases or CRM systems
  • Event coordination experience
  • Grant-making experience
  • Work experience in the for-purpose sector
